An application for a Research Grant from The Foundation of Coaching must include the following documents:
- PURPOSE. A description of the purpose of the proposed research. (1-2 pages)
- ABSTRACT. An abstract of the proposed project. (1-2 paragraphs)
- LITERATURE REVIEW: A list of books and articles that are relevant to coaching and the research topic (1-20 pages)
- RESEARCH QUESTION: Please specify the research question to be studied.
- METHODS. A description of the methods of the proposed research. (1-2 pages)
- ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES. A description of the anticipated research outcome(s). This could be either the planned analysis in a more traditional quantitative or qualitative study or a description of the plans for evaluation and/or potential to measure, examine, or assess the effectiveness and/or meaningfulness of the proposed solution(s) or outcome(s) of the project. (1-2 pages)
- BUDGET. A budget describing, in as much detail as possible, the amount requested and how it will be spent. Please include an itemized list of expected expenses and the total amount requested. (Click here for requested budget format)
PLEASE NOTE: The Foundation does not offer compensation for your own time.
- TIMELINE. A time schedule for the completion of the proposed research, including a date by which you will submit a summary of findings from your research. If this date extends beyond a year from the project’s beginning, interim reports will be requested every 6 months.
- COMMUNICATION PLAN. A statement indicating where you plan to submit your results for presentations and/or publications. (1 statement)
- STUDENT USE. Indicate if you will be using students as research assistants. (1 statement)
- IRB (Institutional Review Board) STATEMENT. A statement of how you plan to address protection and ethical treatment of human subjects in your research. (1 statement)
- MATCHING FUNDING PLANS. Describe, as specifically as possible, plans for seeking other sources of funding to further this research.
- RESUME. A resume or Curriculum Vitae for the researcher(s) involved in the project. The resume or CV for each researcher must be one page or less.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have not done research before, the Foundation will require that you document your partnership with a co-researcher who has research experience.
In order to be considered for review, the proposal package must be complete and include all the above documents.
