The Chronicle Of Coaching
The Chronicle of Coaching provides a snapshot of what’s happening in the coaching profession, and is updated weekly. Compiled and edited by Linda Ballew and Ruth Ann Harnisch.
In this week’s Chronicle: It’s an unusual week in coaching news – no major stories. Unless we missed something (and if we did, we hope you’ll let us know at info@thefoundationofcoaching.org) it’s been a week of features and fluff. We’ll lead off with what might look to some like shameless favoritism, since it features a real Friend Of The Foundation. Toward the end, we link to a blog featuring a couple of video shorts on the internet that make fun of life coaches. The blogger is delighted that coaching is so prominent in the culture that it can be the subject of satire. You might not agree – we warn you, these videos are NOT for general audiences, and NOT for all tastes. Perhaps not for MOST tastes. From Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, China, Thailand, Canada, India, Australia, and the U.S.A., here’s what’s happening.
CONTRIBUTORS: We welcome your suggestions for inclusions in The Chronicle of Coaching. Please let us know about articles, broadcasts, blogs, and other instances of coaching in the culture.

Historical facts from the evolution of coaching
By Vikki G. Brock
Large group awareness trainings (LGAT), which got their start in the United States in the early 60's, were an interesting blend of philosophy, psychology, sociology, spirituality and life affirming wisdom. Universal principles were conceptualized and programs were created to help people move through Western notions. Large Group Awareness Trainings provided many people their introduction to personal growth and perfectly prepared some, like pioneering coach Shirley Anderson, for becoming a coach. (Happy Birthday to Shirley, celebrating this week.)
