In this week’s Chronicle: We note that coaching continues to gain exposure in European countries as a major business newspaper in the Czech Republic covers the growing acceptance of workplace coaching. If your workplace is the political arena, how do you win an election without losing your integrity? Several coaches share their advice in a new book. (Disclosure: some of them know some of us) Another book featured in this week’s Chronicle explains how to start a business as a parent coach, while a blogger asks if family coaching will be the next big trend. Meanwhile, younger family members are served by a franchise offering specialized school coaching to help students succeed. And if you want to join those kids on MySpace (you have heard of MySpace, right?), a blogger tells you how.
A life coach shares his thoughts on Barry Bonds and his new record as professional baseball’s career home run leader. Balance, fun, gratitude, signs from the universe – coaches help clients find them all. And, surprise - it turns out stress management techniques can actually increase stress in the workplace. Solution? Coaching! As always, if we missed anything, please let us know at info@thefoundationofcoaching.org

In Japan, Mamouri Ito founded a human awareness company called IBD, “It’s a Beautiful Day,” which was based on Lifespring. According to Masato Homma, Ito wrote a simple cartoon type book of same name and sold 300,000 copies by 1998, and trained almost that many individuals in the “It’s a Beautiful Day” conversation, which was about creating from a more conscious level, or view, of the planet. In 1998, Ito founded Coach 21 and licensed Coach U materials for use in Japan.
