CIGNA HealthCare is expanding its CIGNA Health Advisor(SM) health coaching program to provide more members with access to a personal health coach. Health coaches will provide ongoing guidance in interacting with the health care system, individualized health education and treatment decision support, and assist in reaching health and wellness goals.

Study Shows Coaches Can Help Reduce Medical Costs
According to a University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center study, patients who require treatment in multiple facilities often get conflicting advice. Coaches who follow patients as they transition from one facility to another can help avoid costly problems. For every 350 patients who receive the Care Transitions Intervention, hospital costs will be reduced by about $300,000, according to the study authors.
