The Chronicle Of Coaching
The Chronicle of Coaching provides a snapshot of what’s happening in the coaching profession, designed to show where and how coaching appears in the popular culture worldwide. It is not intended to be a summary service nor a news roundup, although it may serve that purpose for some readers. The Chronicle is new each Thursday morning. Compiled and edited by Alex Goldsmith, Linda Ballew and Ruth Ann Harnisch.
In this week’s Chronicle: Will they call in the coach? With the popular team manager’s job in jeopardy, the bench coach for the New York Yankees was widely rumored to be the leading candidate for the job. A proposal to require U.S. colleges to interview minority candidates for head football coaching jobs is panned by the same coaches it aims to help. If employees have financial problems, they might be distracted at work, might be absent, might steal. A coach offers free financial training videos to help. One life coach finds out that her son thinks her job is to relax and chat on the phone. After watching a documentary on the BBC featuring coaching, a blogger bemoans the coaches who seem to be more focused on selling their e-book than helping their clients. And we also include an article that encourages coaches to create those e-books, because some feel that creating new products gives coaches credibility. Soul coaching gets some media attention in Canada. A business coach examines the value of the 80/20 rule in running a business.
