Irene is a recent graduate of Fielding Graduate University, receiving a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems (2008), previously receiving a Masters degree in Communication Development from Colorado State University (2000). Currently living and playing golf in Colorado, Irene combines her academic interests with her professional experience to research and develop coaching theories and practices, especially the relationship between coaching and communication. Her dissertation research produced a typology of identities the coach enacts in coach-client conversation. Irene has been coaching since 1999 and currently considers herself a Life and Learning Coach, providing “Life-Support” for Adult Learners. She is a Certified Hudson Institute Coach and a Certified Corporate Coach (Corporate Coach University) and earned an ICF ACC certification. Irene was the Lead Organizer of the First ICF Coaching Research Symposium in 2003 and Co-Lead Organizer the Second ICF Coaching Research Symposium in 2004. She also co-edited the Proceedings of the First and Second ICF Coaching Research Symposia. Irene has been on the faculty of Fielding Graduate University Evidence Based Coaching Certificate program. She recently volunteered to host the ongoing ICF Coaching Research SIG and is on the editorial board of the journal Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice.
